Kristin Beck

Executive Director

Kristin Beck is the executive director for Solstice Senior Living at Auburn. Prior to joining the team, Kristin spent 20 years in the federal government and senior housing industry, working in everything from the construction phase to community management. She has managed operations for independent senior living, assisted living and memory care communities in Colorado, Washington and most recently California. Kristin holds a master’s degree in public affairs from the University of Colorado and is pursuing a graduate certification in Gerontology from USC–Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. While working, Kristin strives to help senior residents continue their community involvement and social responsibility. She believes that “older adults offer others invaluable knowledge derived from a lifetime of talent, joyful experiences and even hardships.”

In her spare time, Kristin enjoys gardening, hiking, yoga and traveling off the beaten path.

Paula Sellers

Director of Sales and Marketing

Paula Sellers is the director of Sales and Marketing for Solstice Senior Living at Auburn. She joins the team with 20 years’ experience in marketing, sales and hospitality. Paula moved to Auburn in 2013 after the passing of her father and discovered her talent and passion for working with seniors. She is excited to be part of the Solstice team and to sing and dance her way into the residents’ hearts. She would love to help you and your loved ones find the perfect home here at Solstice Senior Living at Auburn.

Lori Hull

Business Office Director

After retiring from state service as a senior programmer analyst in 2014, Lori Hull started her second career in the senior living industry. As business office director at Solstice at Auburn, it is Lori’s obligation to see that both the residents and staff are treated with dignity and respect. She works diligently alongside her fellow directors to enhance the lives of the residents. Lori embraces the company culture – “have fun and work hard!” Lori’s credentials include an Administrator’s Certificate (RCFE) and a Master of Business Administration degree, along with degrees in gerontology and criminal justice. When she is not working, Lori enjoys gardening and canning. She also volunteers with Make-A-Wish and Hospice.

Toby Thurman

Culinary Services Director

Chef Toby Thurman is the culinary services director for Solstice Senior Living at Auburn. He has 23 years of cooking experience as a restaurant owner and executive chef. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education and health as well as a master’s degree in sports coaching and sports administration. Chef Toby’s favorite hobbies include cooking, coaching football and attending church with his family.

Cathleen Sommer

Vibrant Life Director

Cathleen Sommer has worked as the Vibrant Life director for more than seven years. Her residents have become her extended family, and she considers spending time with them her favorite part of the job. Before working with seniors, Cathleen was a mentor coordinator with junior high and high school students. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, playing golf, watching movies, and summer softball.

Rod Brunkhorst

Building Services Director

Rod Brunkhorst has worked in the building industry since he was 18 years old. As the building services director, Rod has been a consistent, reassuring presence at Solstice at Auburn for more than eight years. Rod enjoys the outdoors. He loves to hunt, fish and cut firewood. Rod has a beautiful wife named Eileen, three dogs and one cat.
